Day By Day
Day Program
Our Guide/Driver will meet you at your hotel at 7.30, after a short briefing the day tour to Ait Benhaddou can start. We will drive you south to the first hills and valleys of the amazing High Atlas Mountains. You will be actually travelling on one of the highest roads of Morocco across the Tizi n’Tichka Pass at 2260 m high above the sea level! After a photo break, we take the road down to Telouet where the Kasbah of Telouet nests, this legendary Kasbah used to be the strong hold of the Glaoui Family considered till the end of the fifties as one of the Lords of the Atlas! Our tour carries on along the magnificent Ounila Valley with its towering Kasbahs and green terraces. The Ouniala Valley witnessed a glorious time in the past as it was actually on the ancient trade axe linking the sub Saharan Countries to Marrakesh and the North of Morocco. By mid-day we reach the Kasbah Ait Benhaddou a UNESCO site classified since 1987 as a universal heritage. The village itself is the main attraction, mud buildings climbing up the side of the hill, is considered as one of the master chiefs of Berber Architectures. The site was used as a natural decoration for many movies which were shot in the area. After a rewarding lunch, we will take a walk and cross the dried river with our English speaking driver/guide to dominate the kasbahs of Ait Benhaddou; The Granary at the top of the hill is impressive and well worth the effort to get up there. You can enjoy the amazing landscapes all around, barren hills and far away, the beautiful snowcapped peaks of the High Atlas. On your way back, you will be invited for tea with one of the families. In the afternoon, drive back to Marrakech via the Tizi n’Tichka, arrival to your hotel late in the evening (around 20.30).
