Our day trip takes us to the western outskirts of Marrakech, the route is shaded by a varied vegetation of olive, eucalyptus and orange orchards. After 30 km drive, we leave the tarmac travel off road piste, and all of a sudden the scenery completely changes to a barren plateau! Don’t expect a Saharan-style sandy landscapes; it is more a desert stony plateau contrasting with the stunning snow capped Atlas Mountains in the background. It is a less inhabited area because of lack of water which gives a feeling of remoteness and emptiness. Only few courageous villagers still resist from the temptation to leave this arid area! The locals live on sheep keeping and barley agriculture. As we travel south we leave the desert behind and snake up towards the Atlas high plateaus to enjoy a 360° embracing the Haouz Plateau and the Atlas majestic peaks. Lunch will be taken on the terrace of an amazing shepherd house renovated to a guest house, facing the imposing Mount Erdouz (3560m). You will enjoy a home-cooked three course meal of Moroccan salad, couscous with lamb or a vegetable tagine, fresh seasonal fruits and tea. After lunch we will travel through secret valleys and cols. We will take a Djeep track winding down a pine forest where a nice ramble will be arranged towards the springs of Imi n Talat. We will then drive through the superb Berber Valley of Anougal and enjoy the beautiful views of typical Berber villages and lush arcades of walnut, almonds, olive trees ... Our off-road tour ends near the small city of Amizmiz, we will then drive on tarmac road to reach Marrakech and your hotel or Riad. Expected return time to Marrakech is 5 PM.
